going solely geographical. we might have to have a chat about the playoffs this year - unless everyone wants to make the playoffs?

If we end up at the 17 team number, and want to do the same number of playoff rounds (which we probably should), we'll either have to do top team gets a bye, or only last place is eliminated.

Between those options I'd prefer last team gets eliminated. Top team will already win money, so I think it's more fair that they have to slug it out through all playoff rounds in order to earn any more.

At 15 teams we now have a playoff issue. There's no nice way of doing this match up wise. My idea is...
All 15 teams qualify for playoffs. No match ups. Top eight total point scoring teams advance to round two, and we order 1-8 based on round one score (I'm also ok if we order based on regular season standings at that point). I feel like this is the only way to make this work, and still have our rounds match up with the NHL's 4 round system.

Why not have the 15 teams make the playoffs, Top regular season winner gets a bye to the second round while the remaining 14 teams duke it out in the first round. From there the top seven teams are joined up with the regular season winner and the league of eight goes forward? I'm fine with both options, but this is the option for individual matches I suppose.

Works for me. I know earlier we had mention that we shouldn't make things easier on the top team though. We'll have to take a vote on this before the season.

And with today's contraction draft, I would say the parity in the league is now a lot closer, meaning the top team might not make that much of a difference anyway.
