there were 15 ladies in bikinis for this.
Wood Buffalo Wranglers were assigned numbers 1-45 inclusive (45%) Vancouver Johnny Canucks were assigned numbers 46-70 inclusive (25%) Kingston Frontenacs were assigned numbers 71-85 inclusive (15%) Mon Valley Thunder were assigned numbers 86-95 inclusive (10%) Montana Broken Arrows/Brent's new team were assigned numbers 96-100 inclusive (5%)
Using Excel’s RANDBETWEEN(1,100) function, the numbers generated as below: 89 - 1st pick to Mon Valley Thunder 17 - 2nd pick to Wood Buffalo Wranglers 13 60 - 3rd pick to Vancouver Johnny Canucks 66 38 40 58 31 87 100 - 4th pick to Montana Broken Arrows/Brent's new team therefore, 5th pick to Kingston Frontenacs

So if Mon Valley owns first pick, and no owner is found we do the lottery over again right?

So if Mon Valley owns first pick, and no owner is found we do the lottery over again right? I believe that 1st overall pick would just be a selectable option in the contraction draft, no?

Falling from 2 to 3 doesn't hurt as much as it would have last year at least.

That's a joke right? if it went in the exp draft the last seeded team would get the top 2 picks? im sure Wood Buffalo likes that but you have to re do the lottery.

If you read my comment your snarky response is in reference to, I think you will see I make my suggestion. Let me say it again, run the lottery again. But since you clearly have no interest in my suggestion, never mind.

Phar, there's no reasonable reason to re-do the lotto. The rules don't state that the lotto is re-done if the first overall winner leaves and gets contracted. The rules say that the contracted team's assets are up for grabs. Is it really worse that a horrible team gets the first two picks, then say, Malkin and the 2nd overall? The point of the contraction process is to level the playing field and help the bottom feeders. Having the top two picks (if that's what is chosen by the 2nd overall team) is exactly what is intended, no?

I dont get it. If a team is contracted and no longer exists in the league, why would their draft picks exist? Logically shouldn't all the contracted teams' draft picks just vanish, except the picks that have been traded to other teams, if any?

So I'm confused about the contraction draft and regular draft. Aren't the two supposed to be separate?

This is what I assume would happen, if the team is contracted, the picks vanish, everyone moves up
